about the site
hi there! welcome to my little personal website!
the thought of doing this has been bouncing around in my head fur a while,
but i finally got around to it when some of my friends started making their own personal websites.
i think everyone should make their own, honestly, and take back a little bit of the internet fur us, the people using it.
part of why i made this was cohost shutting down, which served as a reminder of just how fragile the increasingly corporate web is.
i don't think personal websites are the silver bullet solution to encroaching corporations, subscriptions, capitalism, or what have you.
but i do think it's something anyone can and should do with a little spare time.
anyhow, that's enough soapboxing from me. (very nearly) all the code fur the site was written by me, by paw,
with exceptions noted in the code and in the credits section of this page.
this site is
designed to last,
more or less, barring the experiments page, which is specifically fur fancier projects that use more than just vanilla html & css,
and the point about multiple pages, which i find myself totally unable to follow.
i'm also trying my best to follow responsive & accessible design principles as outlined
here,
though i must admit i'm not quite hitting every point i'd like to. it is, as always, an ongoing effort. apologies to mobile users.
this site's design was inspired by a bunch of things, in no particular order: my interest in archival science, the library of alexandria
(the internet is, of course, a constantly burning library of alexandria), the website
library of babel
and the short story by jorge luis borges of the same name, the scp-canon-adjacent
wanderers' library
(probably based on the library of babel as well), and almost certainly many other things that don't come to mind right now.
i get it, i'm a nerd about libraries who was an archivist in another life. but you're the one reading my website!
i didn't want a super fancy design, partly because of reasons outline above, partly because i'm not a css wizard,
and partly because i dig the look of raw text on a simple background.
the website was created 2024-09-25, and last updated 2024-09-25.
